The secret to producing efficient power is having a large capacity, under-stressed engine that can cope with any challenge. The 3.0L turbo-diesel engine is why the MU-X delivers more power and torque using less fuel, making it one of the most fuel efficient 7-seat SUVs out there.

The advanced 3.0 litre turbo-diesel engine produces 140kW and an avalanche of torque on demand, with 450Nm available from just 1,600 through to 2,600rpm. This provides exceptional take-off and acceleration with a broad, flat torque band aiding overall drive-ability - also perfect for when carrying a load, or towing up to 3.5T+.

4X4 Terrain Command
Engineered for Australian conditions, every 4x4 MU-X features ‘Terrain Command’ as standard, allowing you to switch between 2WD-high and 4WD-high modes at speeds of up to 100km/h. When the going gets tough, selecting 4WD-low will provide increased traction and complete control.
Rear Differential Lock
To get you out of the toughest spots, 4x4 MU-X models come standard with a rear differential lock. If you're on a slippery, uneven surface with the rear wheels spinning, the rear differential lock assists the low-ratio 4WD-low mode to give you the extra traction and control needed to keep moving.
Rough Terrain Mode
Engineered for Australian conditions, every 4x4 MU-X features Rough Terrain Mode as standard. Rough Terrain Mode provides a new lease on traction as an off-road biased electronic driver aid that maximises drivability in technical, slippery and rough conditions.

Tyre Pressure Monitoring System
The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System constantly monitors individual tyre pressures, helping to ensure that the safe tyre pressures are maintained for optimal fuel efficiency and to reduce tyre wear. Additionally when travelling off-road, reduced tyre pressures can aid in improving traction and the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System helps check that the correct pressures are being used for the conditions. (Standard on LS-U, LS-T & X-TERRAIN models)
Underbody Protection
The MU-X 4x4 models have sturdy steel underbody protection, including a steel sump and transfer case guard, for extra protection in punishing off-road conditions.

Steel Timing Chain
Replacing a timing belt can be an expensive job. But there's no need in the MU-X as it doesn't have one. Instead, a heavy-duty steel timing chain is used and is designed to last the life of the engine. The double scissors design in the 3.0L engine also offers increased durability and reduced noise.
Proven Fuel Efficiency
Diesel engines are 20-30% more efficient than petrol engines. The MU-X is so fuel efficient because our engineers have decades of experience in commercial transport, where every litre counts.
Common Rail Technology
Isuzu’s super-high pressure common rail technology ensures you burn minimal fuel, while enjoying maximum performance from precise control over injection timing and the amount of fuel delivered.
Turbo Charged
The MU-X Variable Geometry System (VGS) constantly adjusts to achieve optimum air compression from low revs, which ensures minimal fuel consumption with maximum torque across the rev-range.
Aerodynamic Design
When the MU-X was designed, it underwent extensive testing to ensure its shape provided outstanding aerodynamics resulting in a lower drag co-efficient (Cd) figure. The sleek final result not only improves fuel efficiency, the shape reduces cabin noise for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
